Personal & Professional Development

Did you know that despite their best efforts, many people study Personal Development and achieve little or no improvement in their results? I’m sure you’ve seen people with bookcases loaded with books from wonderful teachers in this field, yet those books are gathering dust and the owner of the bookcase just seems… stuck. Maybe you have personally hit a glass ceiling or a plateau in an area of your own life where you know you have a lot of room to grow, and you’re not sure what’s holding you back.

You’ve attended (or know those who have) a big seminar event. They come back full of energy and great ideas, yet within a few weeks – they are back to ‘business as usual.’

What holds us back is this – the vast majority of people are still studying Personal Development the way we were all taught to study for tests in school. In school, our teachers told us we ‘knew’ something when we intellectually understood it and could repeat it on a test. What they were truly teaching us what not how to study, but how to pass a test. This method of studying does not get the powerful ideas into our mind in a way that affects our choices or decisions.
We need two extremely important factors in any program of study to create lasting differences in our results.

First, we need repetition. The greats in our industry have a core book that they have studied for years, even decades. Bob Proctor has been a daily, avid student of Napoleon Hill’s ‘Think and Grow Rich’ for 50 years! Personal Development is not a one-stop-shop or a place you suddenly arrive at, it’s a path that will continue to improve your quality of life more and more as you continue to grow.

The second factor we must have in any program of development that creates lasting differences in our results is accountability. We need our own coach, we need our own MasterMind group, and we need our mentors to help us hold to our dreams and actions steps that it takes to create them. Personal Development may be an inside job, but it’s never done alone.
