Community
Seeing others grow and helping them to get better results had always been a mysteriously reoccurring component of every job I had, as if God was gently tapping me on the shoulder whispering “You can help.” Although coaching others was always a part of what I did, it took me years to see this parallel. At 15, I volunteered in a local Emergency Room where I talked to kids and parents who were in severe situations, and I loved it. When I went into college, I felt drawn to be a Resident Counselor and walked my students through some of the most formative years of their lives. And while in graduate school, I served as a Resident Director for my college, creating holistic programs for the students that lived on campus and being on-call 24 hours a day to handle the emergencies that arise from hundreds of college students living together in one building.
It doesn’t matter where you live, how much time or money you have – you can give a little of yourself to make a dramatic improvement to the quality of life for another person. Â Figure out what cause or organization calls you – then YOU call THEM! Â If you need help with some ideas, I’ve included a few of my favorites below.
To Your Success,
